Food inventory tracking

Hi,
Thank you for this great app that I am discovering.
My family currently uses Best Before to track food inventory, but we’d love to have similar functionality in yuvomi.
We mainly use it to track ingredients amount we currently have, and where they are stored. The application is also useful to track expiration dates.
In addition to the recipes, menus and shopping lists, this would make yuvomi a perfect all-in-one solution for our pantry management.

Thanks for the detailed request, and for naming Best Before as the reference. That made it easy to aim at the right thing.

Yuvomi v1.55.0 ships a Pantry module. It sits as the fourth tab of the Kitchen group, next to Meals, Recipes and Shopping, which finally closes that cycle: plan a meal, cook it from a recipe, buy what is missing, and now record what came home.

Your three asks map onto it directly.

Amounts. Every entry carries a numeric quantity plus a unit (pieces, g, kg, ml, l, pack, can, bottle, jar, bag). A stepper books items in and out in a single tap, and the step size follows the unit, so "+" on flour adds half a kilo rather than a whole one. Each item can also have an optional minimum stock; anything at or below it counts as running low.

Where they are stored. Storage locations are their own list, seeded with pantry cupboard, fridge, freezer, cellar and other. You can rename them, reorder them and add your own, and deleting a location keeps the stock it held. Without a filter the list groups by location, so "where is it" is the default view.

Expiration dates. Each entry can carry a best-before date. Items that have expired, or that expire within a week, get a badge, and there are filters for expired, expiring soon and running low, each with a count. Badges only appear on rows that have something to say, so the ones that need attention actually stand out instead of every row wearing a label.

It also runs in both directions with the shopping list, which is what makes the all-in-one part work:

• Empty or nearly empty items go onto the shopping list from the row, or all at once from the "running low" filter. The quantity is pre-filled with what is missing from your minimum stock.
• After a shop, everything you ticked off can be booked into the pantry in one dialog with a shared storage location and a per-item amount. It reads the quantity you typed on the shopping list for the metric units, so "500 g" arrives as 500 g.

One entry is one batch, so two packs of milk with different dates stay two separate lines rather than nesting under a product. That keeps the model flat and the expiry dates honest.

Two things it deliberately does not do yet, so you know what you are getting:

• No barcode scanning. Entries are added by hand or taken over from the shopping list.
• Recipes do not check the pantry. A recipe will not tell you whether you already have its ingredients. That needs reliable ingredient-name matching, and a wrong "you don't have this" is worse than no answer at all, so I left it out rather than ship something that quietly misleads you.

Closing this as resolved. Please do open a new discussion if the model does not fit how your family actually works. I would be especially curious whether the unit list and the minimum-stock idea hold up in daily use, since those are the two places where I had to make a judgement call.
