Full CalDAV integration

You already implemented a CalDAV integration for the calendar and Contacts with radicale, nextcloud, etc.
But you also got a Task Board and Notes functionality.
Why not support Tasks with VTODO and Journal with VJOURNAL for a custom CalDAV Server as well? There's no client that can do all three as of right now anyway

Good timing, and half of this turned out to be already there: VTODO has been mirrored into Tasks and Shopping for a while. The list discovery filters on supported-calendar-component-set containing VTODO, so it is not Apple-specific at all, and any server advertising VTODO collections works. The UI copy said "Apple Reminders" everywhere and the docs never mentioned it, which is presumably why it looked missing.

The real gap was that the mirror was read-only, and that is now closed in v1.68.0: ticking off, renaming, rescheduling, reprioritising or deleting a mirrored task or shopping item is pushed back to the server. A few details worth knowing:

• A change patches the existing object instead of replacing it, so alarms, categories and anything else your other clients wrote survive the round trip.
• Tasks created in Yuvomi stay local. Unlike an event, a task carries no selectable target list, so there is nothing to create it in. If that turns out to be what people miss most, it is a contained follow-up (target picker plus a column).
• Two long-standing bugs fell out of the work: due times were shifted by the timezone offset (a task due at 16:30 showed up as 14:30), and tasks set to "in progress" or archived reverted to "open" on every sync run.

VJOURNAL I have not implemented, and I want to be honest about why rather than leave it silently open. Two reasons:

1. Notes in Yuvomi are Markdown plus a colour and a pin state. VJOURNAL is SUMMARY / DESCRIPTION / DTSTART. A round trip either drops the formatting or carries raw Markdown through, and neither is a good answer.
2. Server support is thin. Radicale stores and serves it properly, Nextcloud keeps it but gives it almost no UI, iCloud does not support it at all. You are right that no client does all three, but the reason is partly that there is not much of a server side to talk to.

So: which server are you running? If you are on Radicale and would genuinely use journal sync, say so and I will look at it properly, including the Markdown question. If it is more of a completeness wish, I would rather not add a sync path that almost nobody can use.

Ah okay, yeah the labeling of the Tasks being Apple-specific without mentioning the possibility of another server kept me from just trying it out.
I will test on 1.68+ and will let you know if I find anything.

Your points on VJOURNAL are also completely valid, and after giving it some more thought, I don't really need it. I store most of my notes in obsidian on my NAS anyways, so i wouldn't be using it in yuvomi too (or maybe there's a possibility to also dump some short notes from yuvomi into a folder that is also in the obsidian Vault?).

The remainders of my CalDAV setup run on radicale, it's the first and most classic of servers i found, maybe i will switch in the future, if there's a reason to.

After trying it out, I can't get the Task sync to work. The CalDAV server is configured in the Reminder Sync section, but there are no tasks being pulled. Also, but that's just a convenience feature, In the calendar section, all available collections get pulled from the CalDAV Server and displayed as an option for saving calendar entries, even if they can't save VEVENTs.

Thanks for testing, and sorry for the runaround. You found two halves of the same bug, and neither of them is on your side. Both are fixed in v1.75.7, which is out now.

I set up a Radicale 3.7.7 here with three collections (VEVENT-only, VTODO-only, mixed) and walked the same path you did. The sync engine itself is fine: discovery, the VTODO filter and the fetch all work, due times land correctly. What was broken is everything leading up to it, because adding a CalDAV account only ever knew about calendars.

Concretely, before the fix:

step	what happened
add the account	all three collections were adopted as calendars, including the pure task list
open the reminder page	empty, "no reminder lists found"
sync	nothing

So the task list showed up where you did not want it (your second point) and was missing where you did (your first). The reminder page only ever populated itself when someone pressed "Refresh reminder lists", and that button is easy to miss when the page is already telling you nothing was found. That is the dead end you hit.

On top of that there was a spec violation working against leaner setups: supported-calendar-component-set is optional per RFC 4791 §5.2.3, and when it is absent a client must assume every component is allowed. Yuvomi filtered strictly on the task side, so a server that omits the property returned no lists at all, and did not filter at all on the calendar side. Radicale does advertise components per collection, so this was not your immediate problem, but it would have been elsewhere.

What v1.75.7 changes:

• the component rule now lives in one place and follows the RFC, with both sides sharing it
• calendar discovery only adopts collections that accept VEVENT
• your existing account fixes itself on the next sync run: collections that do not accept events drop out of the calendar selection automatically, no manual refresh needed. Events already mirrored from such a collection are kept, not deleted
• the reminder page looks for lists itself on first open instead of showing an empty state
• the empty state now says what is actually true ("this server offers no reminder lists") instead of pointing at a button that will not find anything

So after updating, the reminder lists should simply be there. What is still a deliberate step: discovered lists start switched off. You flip each one on, pick tasks or shopping, then hit "Sync reminders". I did not default them to on because for anyone already running this it would dump a pile of existing VTODOs into their task module unannounced. If that extra step feels like one too many once you have tried it, say so and I will reconsider.

One thing I cannot tell from here: which version you tested on. There was a separate inbound bug fixed in v1.68.1 where the fetch asked for VEVENTs on task lists, which made the mirror come up empty against Radicale and Nextcloud. If you were on v1.68.0 you were hitting both at once.

On the Obsidian idea from earlier: noted, but I would rather not bury it in this thread. Open a separate discussion if you still want it, it is a different shape of problem than journal sync.
