Feature Request: Multi-Column Family Calendar View

Description

I really enjoy using Yuvomi and would love to suggest a feature for the calendar module that would make family planning even easier: a multi-column family calendar view (similar to a classic paper wall planner).

Key Requirements & Capabilities

1. One Column Per Family Member

• Each family member gets their own dedicated vertical column displayed side by side.

2. Member Selection & Filtering

• An easy toggle/filter allows users to select which family members are currently visible as columns (e.g., show only the kids, parents, or everyone).

3. Show All Days (Including Empty Ones)

• Days without any scheduled events should still be displayed rather than hidden, maintaining a clear and consistent daily structure.

4. Direct Event Creation ("+" Button)

• A small "+" icon should be available on each day and within each member's column to quickly create a new event directly for that specific date and person.

5. Multi-Member / Shared Events

• If an event involves multiple members (e.g., a doctor's appointment for two kids or a family trip), it should automatically appear concurrently in the columns of all affected members.

User Value / Motivation

Instead of checking events individually or toggling between different views, a column-based family view allows users to see everyone's daily schedule side-by-side at a single glance. This makes it significantly easier to spot free time slots, coordinate pick-ups/drop-offs, and prevent scheduling conflicts.

This is the request I have the most sympathy for, because the paper wall planner is the thing Yuvomi is competing with in a lot of households, and a column per person is exactly what makes that piece of paper work.

The calendar currently has four views - month, week, day and agenda - all of which organise by time and then show who is involved. Yours organises by person first and time second. That is a genuinely different layout, not a variant of week view, which is why it cannot be a switch on the existing one.

The data is ready for it: events already carry assignments per family member, and every member has a colour. So this is a view to build, not a model to change - the pleasant kind of feature request.

The hard part is the same one that limits the week board: horizontal space. Seven day columns already need care at 1024px; a column per member scales with household size, and a family of six on a tablet in portrait gets six columns that are each too narrow for an event title. So this view has to answer what it does when it does not fit - fewer members, horizontal scroll, or a fallback to another view - and that answer decides whether it is usable on the wall display, which is presumably where you would want it most.

Staying open, and #435 asks for a related thing from the other direction (a week as blocks rather than columns). Both are about the wall-planner feel.

How many people would your household need side by side, and on what screen?

We would need 5 people (plus one additional column "whole family") that should fit on a 15" tablet.
The "whole family" is a synced calendar for which we do not assign household members to.
