"Document Type"-level permissions based on User Group

I love the progress that has been made in the permissions-field over the last majors, things like:

• Document Property Value permissions
• Element Folder permissions (v18)
• Element permissions (v18)

However, I have a situation and use that that I think is quite common and that I cannot really address at the moment.

I've described it here, but in short:

• We have a single Umbraco install with multiple sites in the same installation
• We want to build a range of features, like "Content Pages", "Event Pages", "Product Page". But. Not all of the sites will need all of these features. Site A might only have "Content Pages" and "Product Pages" while Site B has all three.
• To make the editor experience less cluttered, we want to hide/disable document types and block types based on the current User Group.

Examples of use cases that we could not solve with the current extension points.

• Hide/disable advanced blocks like (Insert HTML) for a "regular" editor and only allow for admins.
• Hide irrelevant blocks (e.g. a Event List) if the site that the current User works on does not support Events.

I've been talking with Luuk Peters about addressing this in his
​Advanced ​Permissions package which partly works. However, we're still not able to hide blocks.

It would be totally awesome if the User Group could have permissions for "Document Types" and "Element Types" in a similar fasion to how the "Document Property Value permissions" works so that we could allow "UI Read", "UI Write" for document types and element types.

Element Types

• UI Write = Editor can add new blocks and change
• UI Read = Editor can only se blocks in the grid / block list but not change.

Document Types

• UI Write = Editor can add new blocks and change
• UI Read = Editor can only see the content items but add, remove, move, duplicate etc.

For us 95% of the win would be to simply be able to filder the list of "insertable blocks" via some kind of backoffice javascript extension point.

Does anyone else have these needs? Maybe there are existing things that could be used that I don't know about? Any input is much appreciated.
