thx for catching this - it's the same bug. I fixed the root cause in the line command itself in 12b9183, so ^ anchors in match patterns now work correctly. this PR is no longer needed.

also, the grep ^host=localhost$ wouldn't match here because the heredoc produces lines with leading spaces.
