the file contents contain escape sequences (\ and \n) that should be part of the string and not interpretted by python. The easy way to do that is to use the python raw string syntax.
Mutt fails to create its cache file because the directory does not exist which means every time that you open mutt it has to redownload all the email
The strip removes the trailing newline which is kind of unpleasant if you ever just curl the file without piping into podman build. Just remove the whitespace and the strip.
