Marked as bugfix because peer deps widened.
No other changes should be visible to consumers.
I'm no longer testing against TS < 5.5 -- but this is on account of laziness.
I'm not using any fancy features right now, so compat is probably still there.
that said, TS 5.4 is quite old at this point
