Instead of broken/deprecated Travis I recommend adding GithubActions here.
It will make the compatibility visible - together with PHPStan level 6+ for example.

@brusch,
thanks for your PR. We are planning to enable PHP 8.1 with the next version. A few adjustments are necessary, though.
Therefore this PR will be closed, since this change will be included in the upcoming version.
