Selecting a Region is now a single drag, and Compress finishes almost twice as fast.
Select the Region by dragging
- Drag across the Timeline and the swept range becomes the Region — the gesture every trim tool leads with. A plain click still seeks, the in/out handles still fine-tune, and dragging the middle of a partial Region still slides it.
- Fixed the long-standing bug where the first drag on a freshly opened clip did nothing and snapped the playhead to the start: the "Region spans the whole clip" check used a 1 ms tolerance, but the probed duration and the video element's duration disagree by a few milliseconds on real files, so it never matched. It now tolerates 50 ms.
- Press A to select the whole clip again (also listed in the ? shortcut overlay).
- Reopening a clip in the same session restores the Region you had shaped, instead of silently resetting to the whole clip.
Compress is 1.6x faster
- Size-targeted Compress on NVIDIA GPUs now encodes with NVENC p4 + quarter-res multipass instead of p5 + full-res: a 30-second 1440p60 region drops from ~10.5 s to ~6.5 s. Measured SSIM against the source is identical (0.77926 vs 0.77918) — at size-mode bitrates the byte budget, not the preset, is the quality ceiling — and output sizes are unchanged.
Linux is paused
- The Linux packages introduced in 0.5.0 never reached reliable, so releases are Windows-only again and the Linux build jobs are removed. The porting groundwork (scripts, config, platform guards) stays in the repo for a future revival.
