[Solved] 'Failed to open 38 collections' error on startup #9542

That toast doesn't come from the collections that are working. On startup Bruno reads your workspace's workspace.yml and counts every listed collection path that isn't a folder containing bruno.json (or opencollection.yml) (getUnopenableWorkspaceCollections in packages/bruno-electron/src/utils/workspace-config.js and isValidCollectionDirectory in packages/bruno-electron/src/utils/filesystem.js). So the 38 are entries in workspace.yml whose stored path doesn't resolve. Usually they're left over from collections that were moved or renamed, or the same collection listed twice with different paths (relative vs. absolute, an old location, or a moved workspace folder, since relative paths are resolved against the workspace folder). The working copy is a different entry with the same name, which is why you see both. To check and clean up: Click the Home button for that workspace and open Workspace Overview. Each "Failed to open" card shows the path Bruno tried, under the name. Compare it with where the collection really lives. On a failed card, open the menu and choose Remove. For failed cards this only removes the entry from workspace.yml. It doesn't touch any files. Or edit the file directly: close Bruno and open workspace.yml in the workspace folder. For the default workspace that's default-workspace in Bruno's app-data folder: %APPDATA%\bruno on Windows, ~/Library/Application Support/bruno on macOS, ~/.config/bruno on Linux. Remove or fix the collections: entries whose path points nowhere. Back the file up first. If a failed card's path does exist and has a bruno.json in it, please post that entry from workspace.yml and the path shown on the card. That would be a real bug. |
