Plan Measure feedback — What works, what doesn't, and what do you need?

I'm looking for feedback from people who use PDF plans for takeoffs, estimating, architecture, construction, or similar work.

If you try Plan Measure, I'd especially like to know:

What do you use it for?
Was anything confusing?
What was missing?
Would you use it again?

useful app if you ask me, very brilliant initiative

what I particularly like:

• fast pdf loading
• fairly accurate
• sessions are kept even after closing the browser tab
• neat interface, not overwhelmed by too many features, it just does the job

my suggestions:

• continuous line/polygon command, to avoid clicking on same icon once one geometry is traced, maybe a single-enter closes the very geometry but keeps it available for the next one, double-enter key to close them all, making it available for a different geometry (at the moment line and polygon are available)
• hotkeys to activate line/polyline or other commands would be useful
• apply a group/category/tag to traced geometries, the same string would appear in the csv as a dedicated column to facilitate data extraction (rooms, story, space, etc). The "Measurements" panel would need a tree-like arrangement to show nested categories, it would be super if such groups or single measurements/geometries could be turned on/off independently
• maybe single line entry describing the measurement in their left panel, currently it's displayed with 4 lines (to optimize screen space)
• csv exported columns are a lot, maybe some need them all, but for simple tracing they would seem an overkill, any chance to turn them on/off in settings? True any csv editor can delete what not needed but if possible it would be a convenient feature
• polyline geometry would be useful to have in addition to line and polygon
• allow "hand" (pan) command by pressing mouse wheel, or edit (by acting on existing handles) previous calibration line.
• during calibration it would be useful to pan across the pdf to set the second point
• show measurement label inside traced geometry (especially with polygons), to be turned on/off along with measurements and geometries from top menu
• snap on existing geometry vertices
• allow copy paste of existing geometries
• ortho (locked at 90deg) tracing

Thanks for taking the time to test it and share such detailed feedback; it’s really helpful.

I’ll work through your suggestions step by step instead of adding everything at once. I’m starting with continuous Line/Polygon drawing, so you won’t have to reactivate the tool after every measurement. Then I’ll move on to shortcuts, panning and calibration, groups and categories, CSV options, and the other suggestions.

I’ll implement everything progressively, so more improvements should be coming soon. I’ll also do my best to keep the interface as clean and compact as it is now.
