/api/config http 500 error

I am trying the test on local machine with docker followed the instruction at https://leafdocs.rit.uw.edu/development_and_testing/testing/.

The API server is up with default setup ( Debug output) . But i got the below error looks like it was still looking for authentication.

The default set is "UNSECURED" for Authentication and Authorization.

Hi @Luyaochen1 , thanks for your question. My first thought is that this is almost certainly a problem with the API communicating with the Leaf app database. Can you confirm that the database is up and running?

sorry, i did not make it clear. what I mean is that "IF" I set an incorrect password, i can see a connectivity error when i run "dotnet run". I am not sure whether this can proof that the database connectivity is fine. Otherwise, i can see an error when run the /api/config

The API server was cloned from github. and dotnet version is 6.0.300 ( 3.1 was installed first with some compile error, then i installed 6.0 to fix it according to the discussion there).

There is another error that appears about once a minute :

Got it, thanks for clarifying, @Luyaochen1. The additional info you mention may be the clue we need - Leaf runs a check every minute or so to get information from the DB. The database procedure to do so changed in the latest version, which, if out of sync with the API, would cause the above error.

Thus my suspicion is that the DB is a version behind (though why that would be if you pulled from GitHub I'm still trying to figure out).

It'd be great if you could confirm the DB version - you can do so by running SELECT * FROM ref.[Version] using the Leaf app DB.

I'm guessing the output will be 3.10.1, in which case you should migrate the DB version up by running the script at https://github.com/uwrit/leaf/blob/master/src/db/migration/3.10.1__3.11.0.sql.

I just did the check. The DB version is consistent with the code.

I have two testing installation( on a different machine ): the one pulled from GitHub shows 3.11.1, and another one extracted from leaf-api-3.11.0.tar.gz released version shows 3.11.0

They had the same error.

@Luyaochen1, another user tracked down a discrepancy in the Leaf database setup scripts, specifically a case where recently added SQL stored procedures were not present as expected. I've updated the main GitHub Leaf repo to now include those.

It's seems strongly possible the issues you found were related to this - if so, sorry for the hassle, we should have caught that but missed it. Let me know if this solves things for you.
