Changes in RC-6

• Updates to the latest Freeink SDK to address a battery drain issue seen in RC-5.
• Frontlight Restore on Wake setting is honored after silent restarts when using wifi
• Images are no longer inverted in dark mode
• You can now toggle the reader touchscreen when outside of the reader
• Short-press power should wake the device again (Short-press power button set to "sleep" no longer wakes device #646)
• Long book titles should no longer overlap the home icon in the top drawer on touch devices (Home button is not clearly visible with long book titles #647)
• Clippings should work for texts in tables now (Clippings do not work inside tables #652)
• Accessing the clipping shortcut via a long-press should now work reliably (Clipping via shortcut does not work #659)
• Reader settings accessed from top drawer scrolls properly (Reader Settings page cannot be scrolled by swiping vertically #633)
• Quick-lock now turns off the frontlight and restores it when unlocked
• Font and layout changes should update after exiting the reader menu again on X3/X4 devices (Selected font does not update in-book until exiting to Main Menu and reopening #660)
• Syncing progress in different orientations should render correctly (Loading text not inverted when syncing progress. #596)
• Updates some German translations (Translation of some new text strings in 1.5.1 into German – enhancement, not a bug #640)
• Dictionary fonts should behave more consistently (low memory thresholds will still fallback to the reader font though) (Global dictionary font size being forgotten or not applying #641)

• Full touch support for Xteink X4 Pro
• New Quick Actions menu where you can set 5 shortcuts accessible via any of the shortcut buttons. Settings > Controls > Quick Actions
• The Power + Up button combo can now be assigned to a shortcut. Get to it from Settings > Controls > Power Button > Power + Up Combo
• On X4 Pro and Sticky, the Up + Down button combo can be assigned to a shortcut. Get to it from Settings > Controls > Side Buttons > Up + Down Combo
• New Quick Lock shortcut for locking the device without actually putting it to sleep. This disables all buttons (and the touchscreen) and must be unlocked with the same button shortcut.
• New shortcuts added for Previous Page and Nearby Position Sync

• Fonts now display their installed point sizes next to their name (addresses Same font in multiple sizes does not work intuitively #491)
• The boot-up splash screen has been removed. You will now wake directly to your last screen

• Non-touch devices: Book Options moved to the bottom of the menu so a single Up click can get to it quickly.

Tip

If you experience any problems, please clear your caches before opening an issue. Start with the least invasive and work your way down to the most invasive if problems persist after each step.

1. Delete book cache (In-reader menu > Delete book cache)
2. From your SD card: Delete the individual .crosspoint/epub_<hash> folder for the book giving you issues
3. Delete all reading cache (Settings > System > Files & Cache > Clear Reading Cache)
4. From your SD card: Delete ALL .crosspoint/epub_<hash> folders and recent.json and state.json
5. Back up your global_stats.bin and then delete the entire .crosspoint/ folder

Hi, my X4 Pro just arrived and I immediately flashed CrossInk. I'm from Brazil and I'm using the PTBR language and I've seen some issues that might me occurring for other languages too, so I'm reporting them here as this might help you in later versions:

Not translated menu options
Settings:

• Screen: Frontlight and it's submenus; UI Scale.
• Reader: Disable touchscreen and Indexing method.
• Controls: Taps & Gestures and it's single submenu 'two-finger swipe'.
• System: Device -> Date formate and date separator
• Lock screen with stats: time left is not translated

There is also the issue of spacing in some menus

• Statistics: the page title shows only half of it's text.
• Settings -> Controls is also being cutoff due to the lack of space
• Lock screen with stats: estimated conclusion date is above the book cover; book name is in two lines and then it goes ... (there is vertical space below that, it could go to a third line); the sequence is also being cutoff, it could use another line to show all the content.

Those are all minor fixes and for my use the system is very stable, so thank you very much for building such a great firmware. I'm reporting this mainly because in other languages the issues reported might be even worse and there are styling fixes that could be applied to fix them for all.

Hey, thanks for the report. Yeah the languages part has been one of the tougher ones to deal with since I can't reasonably test every UI screen for the 28 supported languages to see if they all fit. I'm hoping one day all of the language files can be offloaded to the SD card and be editable by users, but we're not quite there yet 😅. I'll probably put out a call for help for proper native translators soon.
