Just tried on my ancient iPhone 7Plus with iOS 15.

it crashes during startup too... It can not read the modern webassembly code.

when I revert to legacy compiler and linker settings

-sWASM_LEGACY_EXCEPTIONS=1

then it starts up again ...

I have only recently made the jump to modern Exception Handling because of a bug in Safari 26.0-26.1 which was only in apples safari code for these legacy exceptions.

according to caniuse on which browser supports exception handling modern exception handling should work in iOS 15.2 - 26.3 therefore I thought it would be fine.

I suspect now that the above compiler setting -sWASM_LEGACY_EXCEPTIONS=0 not only emits code for modern EH but it additionally also emits code for exception handling with exnref which is only supported in safari 18.4 and above

when it detects safari < iOS 18.4 it automatically redirects to the above legacy address
