kitty is not installed any more
A fresh box was getting three terminals and opening one of them. kitty comes off
the base set and the ISO in syn-install 0.1.0-100 — one `synpkg install kitty`
puts it back, every fallback chain still names it, and the installer still
writes its palette, so an older machine is unaffected. Also: foot's reason for
being there changed when kitty left, and the theming line named the wrong
terminal.
The terminal, the television, and an installer where everything is optional
Two subjects had shipped and reached NO page in 32: syntty, the default
terminal since synui 0.1.0-359, and big screen mode. Both now have one.
New pages:
- Terminal — why it links no GL (a GL context is the one thing install media
cannot count on, and a live session with no prompt is a rescue disk that
cannot rescue anything), the keys the window keeps, why a paste is the
dangerous direction, the config file, following the desktop theme, OSC 133,
and what happened to kitty.
- Big Screen — what is on it, stepping aside versus closing, music sources and
the fact that YouTube Music needs no account to PLAY (signing in is a browser,
and it is for browsing), the visualizer chord, words-on-a-pipe rather than
synthetic keys, and fitting an old game to the screen.
Installation gains the whole selection story: Custom is every package now,
including the eleven that used to be installed whatever you answered; the four
dependency rules that turn one back on and say so; the five software pages; and
the gap they close, which is that an installed system arrived with no web
browser unless Full happened to pull one in as a dependency.
The-Desktop gains thirteen themes with their synuirc tokens, the clear bar and
where its ink comes from, desktop-wide text size, screens (extend/mirror/
external and why mirror forces a shared resolution), screen audio off the ALSA
ELD rather than the sink name, the start menu's filtering, and the screensaver
and Do Not Disturb.
Also: Gaming links to Big Screen and documents `fit` and `map learn`; Commands
gains syntty and the new syn-arcade verbs; Keybindings marks the gaming keys as
defaults on a fresh install and corrects the theme, display and screensaver
rows; Files documents the sidebar toggle, the progress reporting and the 147x
copy fix; Software the news gate and the kernel staged for boot; Updating the
single password and the two-apply rule for a brand-new component;
Troubleshooting five user-facing symptoms; Cutting an ISO Release the preflight
script; Development Notes five lessons.
Both link checkers pass, and every cross-page anchor resolves.
