The CNA flow was very hacky and awkward, just rolling out a tarball and installing with package manager of choice is fine. Maybe there's something standardized for creating apps but..

maybe use degit, not sure yet.

Drops the hand-rolled https + tar pipeline (and its redirect handling) in
favor of degit's clone API. Same scaffold result, ~50 fewer lines.
