The Shizuku prompt permission screen keeps crashing on version 0.4.2-hotfix2

Hey again! I've "possibly" fixed the bug — could you try this debug build for a while? Just to verify whether the fix actually works or not :D. No need to uninstall the release version of VInstall by the way :)

Update — Possible user error on my side (Shizuku permission not granted in Stellar)

Device & OS:
Device model: Samsung Galaxy S9+
Android version: Android 10
VInstall version: 0.4.2-hotfix2 (2)

I think I may have found the cause of the crash I reported earlier.

Before opening VInstall, I had not yet granted Shizuku permission inside the Stellar app (roro.stellar.manager - Version 1.0.14 (100149)). When I then tried to use Shizuku install mode in VInstall, the permission prompt screen crashed.

This time I ran a clean test with LogFox (Shizuku backend + VInstall filter) after the permission was properly granted:

• Steps: Opened VInstall → selected Shizuku install method → permission prompt appeared normally and worked without crashing.

Question for you:
Should I try reproducing the original crash again (by revoking the Shizuku permission in Stellar first) and send you a crashing log? Or is the normal-operation log above enough to confirm everything is working as expected on your end?

To answer your question, no need to reproduce the crash again, the normal-operation log is more than enough! I actually dug into the code and already found the root cause :)

Turns out it was a mix of both sides

• On your end: Shizuku permission wasn't granted in Stellar before opening VInstall.
• On my end: requestPermission() wasn't properly guarded for when the Shizuku binder isn't ready yet, so the app just... crashed. That's on me! ;b

I've since fixed it with a proper availability check + fallback, so it won't crash even if Shizuku isn't set up correctly, will be in the next release by the way :)
