move header buttons to menu bar height? #61

Thanks for the kind words, and for a clear suggestion. It's in the next update, Notchy 1.0.201, as Tabs Beside the Notch: Settings → Tabs → Header Layout. It starts off. With it on, on a Mac with a notch, the tab bar sits to the left of the camera and the header buttons to the right, at menu-bar height, instead of in a row below the cutout. That also fixes the icons sitting lower than the notch, which you noticed. The panel keeps the height you set, so the space the old header row used goes to the tab's content. If the tabs or buttons need more room beside the camera, the panel widens to fit, and tabs that don't fit move into the More menu. |

Closing, since this shipped in 1.0.201 as Tabs Beside the Notch (Settings → Tabs → Header Layout). Thanks for the idea! |
Uh oh!
There was an error while loading. Please reload this page.
just want to say firstly thanks for making this!! and being responsive and quick to act on suggestions and our issues. Appreciate it.
0.200 seemed to resolve a few of my issues, and included fixing another request I had, which was specifying notch or pill depending on screen...
my suggestion here is, with the expanded panel on screens with a notch, could the home tabs and pinned buttons be place at the same height as the menu bar? flanking the notch itself
i understand it would require the expanded panel to be wide enough to fit what a user has pinned in there... but that's not the worst if it means overall the notch is more space efficient. and if the other tabs/buttons shrink to icons/'see more' view
there's currently a bunch of negative space there that is doing nothing. I think there is also an interface error that is causing these icons to be lower than even the notch itself... so even resolving that would be great, but ideally, tabs and header buttons should appear adjacent to notch, not below.
screenshots below, unfortunately, you have to imagine where the notch is in these? the first one, of home, would be as simple as moving all buttons up to menu bar height. the second one, with now playing tab open, would require expanding the panel to fit buttons around the notch
