Typescript 7?

Is anybody testing this with Vite? Are there any dealbreakers?

Vite main is still pinned to TypeScript ~6.0.2, so TypeScript 7 is not yet part of Vite’s own tested toolchain.

For a typical Vite app, the risk is narrower than it may seem: Vite transpiles TypeScript with Oxc and does not type-check during dev or build. Your TypeScript version therefore matters mainly to tsc (or framework-specific checkers) and any plugins/tools that declare a TypeScript peer dependency.

I would try the upgrade in a branch and run both tsc --noEmit and vite build. The likely blockers, if any, are TypeScript-aware tools such as typescript-eslint, vue-tsc, framework plugins, or a changed compiler option—not Vite’s normal module transform. Until Vite updates its own pin or a maintainer confirms compatibility, I would treat TS 7 as usable only after that project-level check.
