SnapshotRef missing from ConnextEx

Why is snapshotRef an emtpy string in the call to
vixError = VixDiskLib_ConnectEx(cnxParams, readOnly, "", transportModes, connection);?
This field is required for IO access to snapshot image files and the library does not function without it.
