Description
This proposal suggests adding GCC-15.x as a separate package (gcc15) in the Void Linux repositories so users can test it, benchmark it, and prepare for the next release. GCC-15 delivers full C23 support and expanded C++26 support, improved build times, a better more modren optimization phases (especially on ARM64 machines), and clearer, more user-friendly diagnostics(1) With early tests showing measurable performance gains on modern CPUs(2, 3, 4), along with the updated libstdc++, which fixes ABI issues and improves standards compliance, making GCC-15 available now allows developers to verify compatibility and ensures a smooth upgrade once it becomes stable upstream.
