👋 just wanted to mention for anyone wondering that this repo has just moved from the Springload GitHub org to Wagtail’s. It’s the same people maintaining the project as for the last 5+ years (mostly me), but having it in a shared community org will nonetheless help with the bus factor. It’s easier to assign granular permissions to people, easier for others to step in if there are urgent issues.
As far as the future of this project - there’s not much new since #456 – the underlying Draft.js library is no longer maintained so I wouldn’t recommend investing a lot of custom code on top of Draftail / Draft.js, but really it’s still working well (minus a few long-standing issues, #138). Eventually I’m sure we’ll archive this project and move on to a new rich text editor base, but that landscape is really hard to navigate due to inconsistent browser support and the flagship editors being under copyleft licenses.
If anyone wants to help with this project -- help is welcome, with the understanding current maintenance is done within very limited capacity outside of the occasional sprint where it makes sense to go further. I’ve published a Draftail project roadmap to list what I’m particularly interested in pushing forward personally. Welcome contributions in those areas. And other things too potentially but in very limited capacity.
