This is a part of major update and refactoring for the wakepy 0.8.0 release.

I am merging this for better transparency; Make it easier for others to see what is being done. Also makes easier for people to help and/or give PRs etc, when the code in master is in sync. The master has not been updated 3+ months although a lot of work has been done. In addition, I'm getting rid of separate
devbranch and using singly themasterbranch (simplify workflow).It is not ideal to have a broken master, but I think this is still better than keeping the changes locally. I'm aiming to get the broken parts fixed and tests passing asap (and try to keep the master in better shape from that on).
