twinBASIC Constants

twinBASIC has many built-in constants. Using constants, gives the developer a readable value that is easy to understand. Without constants, many properties would require integers to be used to represent the various states, making the code harder to write and understand later.

Appearance

  • vbAppear3d = 1 - the normal three-dimensional apppearance
  • vbAppearFlat = 0 - flat appearance, without a raised coloring effect

Alignment

  • vbLeftJustify = 0 - Left align data in the control
  • vbRightJustify = 1 - Right align data in the control
  • vbCenter = 2 - Center data in the control

BorderStyleConstants

  • vbDash = 1 - draws a dashed line
  • vbDashDot = 3 - draws a line with alternating dots and dashes
  • vbDashDotDot = 4 - draws a line with a dash-dot-dot pattern
  • vbDot = 2 - draws a dotted line
  • vbInsideSolid = 6
  • vbInvisible = 5
  • vbSolid = 0

Button

  • vbLeftButton = 1 - Left mouse button
  • vbRightButton = 2 - Right mouse button

ComboBoxConstants

  • vbComboBoxDropdown = 0 - displays the textbox area of the ComboBox, and allows the user to open the list as a dropdown. The dropdown list will display on top of controls below the ComboBox if necessary.
  • vbComboBoxDropdownList = 2 - only allows selection from the list. The textbox area is not editable.
  • vbComboBoxSimple = 1 - displays the list on the screen. Size the box during form design to display the appropriate number of rows.

Days of the week

  • vbSunday = 1
  • vbMonday = 2
  • vbTuesday = 3

FirstDayOfWeek Arguments

  • vbUseSystem = 0
  • Any of the days of the week constants can also be used

FirstDayOfYear Arguments

  • vbUseSystem
  • VbFirstJan1 = 1 - Default. Week 1 will be the week in which January 1 occurs.
  • vbFirstFourDays = 2 Week 1 will be the first week that has at least four days in the new year.
  • vbFirstFullWeek = 3 - Week 1 will be the first full week of the year.

Date Format

  • vbGeneralDate = 0 The display is determined by the system settings. If there is no fractional part only the date is displayed. If there is no integer part only the time is displayed
  • vbLongDate = 1 - Display only the date using the long date format defined in the computer's regional settings.
  • vbShortDate = 2 - Display only the date using the short date format defined in the computer's regional settings.
  • vbLongTime = 3 - Display only the time using the long time format defined in the computer's regional settings.
  • vbShortTime = 4 - Display only the time using the short time format defined in the computer's regional settings.

DockMode

  • vbDockBottom = 4 - docks the control to the bottom of the container.
  • vbDockFill = 5 - forces the control to always fill the container.
  • vbDockLeft = 1 - docks the control to the left side of the container.
  • vbDockNone = 0 - does not dock the control to the container.
  • vbDockRight = 3 - docks the control to the right side of the container.
  • vbDockTop = 2 - docks the control to the top of the container.

DragAction

  • vbCancel = 0 - Cancels the drag operation
  • vbBeginDrag = 1 - Begins dragging the object
  • vbEndDrag = 2 - Ends dragging and drops the object

DrawMode

  • vbBlackness = 1 - Turns the pixel black.
  • vbCopyPen = 13 - (Default) Color the pixel the color in the ForeColor property.
  • vbInvert = 6 - Invert the color of the pixel. E.g., all pure blue pixels will turn yellow.
  • vbMaskNotPen = 3 - Determines a color based upon the background color and the inverse of the pen.
  • vbMaskPen = 9 - Determines a color based upon a color common to the pen and the display.
  • vbMaskPenNot = 5 - Determines a color based upon a color common to the pen and the inverse of the display.
  • vbMergeNotPen = 12 - Set each pixel to the color resulting from merging the inverse of the pen color with the pixel color.
  • vbMergePen = 15 - Set each pixel to the color resulting from merging the pen color with the pixel color.
  • vbMergePenNot = 14 - Set each pixel to the color resulting from merging the pen color with the inverse of the pixel color.
  • vbNop = 11 - No pixels will be changed.
  • vbNotCopyPen = 4 - Set each pixel to the inverse color of the results from vbCopyPen.
  • vbNotMaskPen = 8 - Set each pixel to the inverse color of the results from vbMaskPen.
  • vbNotMergePen = 2 - Set each pixel to the inverse color of the results from vbMergePen.
  • vbNotXorPen = 10 - Set each pixel to the inverse color of the results from vbXorPen.
  • vbWhiteness = 16 - Turns the pixel white.
  • vbXorPen = 7 - Xor the color of each pixel with the color specified for the pen color.

KeyMask

ListBoxConstants

  • vbListBoxCheckbox = 1 - displays a checkbox next to each item and allows multiple items to be checked.
  • vbListBoxStandard = 0 - displays a list of items. Multiple items can be selected if the MultiSelect property is set to True.

Mouse Pointer

  • vbArrow = 1 - Normal arrow as defined by the operating system
  • vbArrowHourglass = 13 - Arrow with hourglass (the operating sytem default arrow and hourglass together.)
