Setting a tunnel without a killswitch?

I got a tunnel to my home wg network, but its not always up, and i have to keep the client always on, so id like to ask, is there an option to set up the client, so whenever the tunnel is down, the client has just regular internet connection, and whenever tunnel is up, it goes automatically to the tunnel connection, without manually turning it on and off in the app?

To make sure I am understanding, when the tunnel is down you want the app to stop the tunnel, but keep pinging the server to see if the server is up and if it is up then try to reestablish the tunnel? Do I have that correct?

Any news about "oportunistic", auto-fallback tunnels?

(e.g. for expendable tunnel features of some priority, but ok to fallback to other or no tunnel at all, if not available)
