Please feel free to edit this page and post your questions at the bottom.

I (or your TA, or another student) will then edit the page and post answers.

You may also create a new wiki page using the "New Page" button. This is recommended if you have a question that you feel is a little bit "off topic" and is not directly related to the course material. (For example, you might want to know more about complex numbers.)

It may be possible to earn bonus points if you post an especially good question, or if you provide good answers to other students' questions.

Example question

Q: What will Quiz 1 cover?

A: All of Chapter 1 except for Section 1.4.

Calculators on tests

Question.

Dr. Demeo,

I know you said that we can't use calculators on the test, but does that also mean for the quizzes as well?

-Mitchell Smith

Answer.

Hi Mitchell,

Sorry I didn't reply sooner. I thought I would get notified when this page was edited. I will try to change that.

Generally speaking, you will not be permitted to use calculators on test or quizzes. In the unlikely event that I change my mind about this, I will let you know in advance.

Problem 2.3.12

Question

Dr. Demeo,

I'm having trouble with question #3 on Webassign, lim -> -9 (x^2+10x+9)/(x^2+8x-9) after applying rule five and then assigning each term a limit that approaches -9, I came to the equation (-9)^2+ 10(-9)+ 9/(-9)^2+ 8(-9)-9 and 0, and DNE are both answers rejected by the system. Where am I going wrong?

Thanks

Answer

I'm moving this question, and my answer, to its own page. Click the "Pages" tab above and look for the "Section 2.3 Questions" page. (It's not a big deal, but I think it's probably better if we reserve the "General Questions" page for more general questions about the class.)
