Pre-release / RC status as of 2026-05-31.

This ZIP contains bedtools.exe built for MSYS2-UCRT64, required DLLs, README.md, LICENSE.md, THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.txt, and per-DLL notices under LICENSES/.

Validation summary:

  • MSYS2-UCRT64 build completed.
  • Smoke checks passed: bedtools --version, LF text stdout check, and BAM stdout round-trip through htsutil.
  • MSYS2-UCRT64 make test: segfault 0, bad_alloc 0; passing tools include BAM/FASTQ, groupby/map/merge/jaccard, sample/shuffle.t5, coverage, and common interval tools.
  • Remaining UCRT64 test failures are not all compile failures: complement/getfasta/intersect/shuffle.t6 depend on MSYS Bash /proc process-substitution paths, fisher.t5 fails during very long /tmp test setup, closest.t15 still needs final sort/naming analysis, and negativecontrol is expected.
  • WSL/Linux baseline was built from the initial v2.31.1 source after temporary CRLF/executable-bit normalization in /tmp. In that baseline, closest/complement/fisher/getfasta/intersect/shuffle pass; coverage/genomecov fail for local baseline-environment reasons (missing generated coverage BAM and no python alias).
