Hi WLED Team!
WLED is an amazing piece of engineering, but it has a growing usability problem. With nearly 200 effects, the interface has become a "wall of text" that scares away non-technical users.
The Reality Check: > Only about 30% of users are "power users" who enjoy digging into Presets. The other 70% (kids, partners, guests, "non-techies") just want to find a nice effect and stick to it. Currently, they have to scroll through a massive, non-intuitive list every single time.
The Proposal: One-Click Favorites
A small "Star" icon next to every Effect and Palette.
A "Show Favorites Only" toggle switch at the top of the list.
Why Presets are NOT the answer:
Presets feel like "programming," while clicking a star feels like "using an app." For a user with a 16x16 matrix, finding the 10 effects that actually look good and saving them with one click would be a game-changer.
Let's make the UI as brilliant as the light effects!
Best regards,
