I am a newbie, using Visual Studio to compile many times are failed, only compiled successfully once, and this successful one compiled firmware burned into the ESP32C3 and ESP8266 devices are not responsive, if there can be compilation tutorials or guides or so will be much better, I saw this article in your blog above, maybe someone has successfully compiled! I used ESP-IDF to install wolfssl and wolfssh in ESP32-SSH-Server and after deleting wolfssh and wolfssl in components I get the following error

Let's try to start over. I have two options for you: clone fresh repositories and edit cmake files, or use managed components.

Clone Fresh Repositories

I cloned the 3 repositories to C:\test\issue_5

mkdir c:\test\issue_5
cd c:\test\issue_5

git clone https://github.com/wolfSSL/wolfssl.git
git clone https://github.com/wolfSSL/wolfssh.git
git clone https://github.com/wolfSSL/wolfssh-examples.git

Then I needed to manually set the wolfSSL and wolfSSH directories:

wolfSSL

Edit the project wolfSSL CMakeLists.txt file here:

C:\test\issue_5\wolfssh-examples\Espressif\ESP32\ESP32-SSH-Server\components\wolfssl

Find the "Optionally set your source" and uncomment the line as assign a value for WOLFSSL_ROOT:

I moved the wolfSSL and wolfSSH repository directories into C:\test\issue_5\bak

It is probably easiest to simply use the user_settings.h file that we saved in the bak directory, here:

Copy that user_settings.h to the managed component directory:

Yes, it's important that the configured GPIO pins are actually the ones connected on the ESP32. It's also important that those pins used as UART Tx/Rx on the ESP32 are actually connected to another device with the appropriate baud rate, not reversed, and working properly otherwise.

I've found it helpful to use a USB-TTL to separately confirm the target device is properly responding as a serial device over Tx/Rx. I've seen devices become unresponsive when too many unexpected characters are received (typically a security feature).

When you had the reboot problem with the wrong GPIO pins: which were you using? I've not seen that problem before.

You might be complicating things even more by getting two of these talking to each other (although in theory it should work).
