Saving and managing drafts is unreliable #147

As mentioned on many reviews, with those reviews receiving 5+ thumbs up for helpfulness, drafts are unreliable. It seems that drafts either go entirely missing, or the most recent work goes missing.
It seems that maintaining drafts must take precedence over any destructive state they could be in. Users may not mind having many drafts if the drafts have all of their work.
I've heard that the autosaving features on the serverside may be the cause for some of these issues. Could someone elaborate on what these issues could be? While we might be powerless to address big server changes for self-hosted blogs, we can definitely try to roll out changes on wordpress.com.
