== Installation ==

= Plugin =
1. Upload the entire Pixtulate folder to the /wp-content/plugins/ directory under your WordPress installation.
2. Activate the Pixtulate plugin from the 'Plugins' menu in WordPress

= Before First Use =
1. [Signup](http://www.pixtulate.com/signup/#?source=wordpress) for an account
2. Complete the signup process and register your desired domain name
3. Come back to the plugin settings page in your WordPress installation and enter your domain name
4. Select your desired HTTP connector location from the dropdown menu and press 'Update'. All images paths will be relative from this location.
5. Select what kids of images you want Pixtulate to optimize and your SSL settings
6. When done, press 'Update'

== Frequently Asked Questions ==
**What do I put in the 'Domain' field?**

Only enter the name of the domain your registered, not the full host. For example, only enter "mydomain"and not mydomain.api.pixtulate.com

**What does the option 'Ignore default image dimensions (Recommended)' actually do?**

Wordpress by default embeds the image's original height and width as attributes on the <img> element. Selecting this option removes those attributes so that the image is free t be scaled accorrding to the layout's dimensions by Pixtulate, thereby renddering your images responsive.

**How do I actually make my images responsive?**

Simply add a media item to your page or post from your media library. This items should be of the best quality and highest resolution possible. No need to pre-scale or thumbnail beforehand. That's it. The image will be scaled to fit the area where it's located.

**My images are not scaling correctly**

A few possible reasons:
* Responsive images are scaled to fit their container's size. If you are relying on scaling areas of your page based on the image's size, this will not work. 
* Are your images loaded using some script? This is frequently the case with sliders or fancy galleries. This plugin will only process images using a standard <img> element.
* Responsive image's aren't fluid images. If you want fluid images, apply "max-width: 100%" to your image's style

== Screenshots ==

1. Setup 1. Enter just your Pixtulate domain name (i.e. just: mydomain, not http://mydomain.api.pixtulate.com or similar)
2. Setup 2. Select the the root path where to load your images from. If you want to optimize images part of your theme or other plugins, select your site's host name. If you just care about images in your media manager for post and pages, select the upload folder.
3. Setup 3. The default settings are recommended. If your site is secured with SSL, select "Force SSL encryption" to make sure all images are loaded over https.
4. Setup 4. Choose if you want all images on your site processed or just those contained in posts and pages. "All images" includes logos, theme images, sidebars etc.
5. Setup 5. Press "Save Plugin Settings" and make sure you get a successful response. If not successful, make sure you have signed up and check your domain name matches that you signed up with.
6. Posting 1. Select an image to include in a post or page as usual from the media manager
7. Posting 2. Select full size! Pixtulate will figure out what size to scale your images depending on your viewer's screen size
8. Posting 3. Click "Insert into post" to include the image. That's it.
9. Verification: Check your src attribute in your <img> element on the page has changed to something including http://api.pixtulate.com/images/mydomain/....
