Reading notes now keep editable quotations, comments, and whole-material thoughts in a clean Markdown body, with anchor data at the end of the same file. Native references let you reuse this material across notes.

Format compatibility: Install Marglow 0.3.0 or later on every reading device before explicitly upgrading a note to format 2. Legacy notes are never upgraded automatically; conversion provides a preview and a verified original backup. Physical iOS acceptance of this beta remains pending.

• Move Add comment into the annotation footer as an icon and reveal all annotation actions together on hover or keyboard focus; keep touch actions visible without reserving an extra text row.
• Keep floating annotation windows open after color/style changes, retain their dragged position and unsaved comment draft, and advance each save from the committed snapshot for safe repeated edits.
• Simplify the reading sidebar with an icon for opening the note, compact status control, Thoughts/Annotations counts, and timestamp footers with accessible copy/delete icons. Remove the empty-thought explanation and redundant filename extensions/path text.
• Let users drag floating comment editors by their heading, preserving drafts and keeping the window within the viewport; leave inline editors in their cards.
• Size PDF highlights to text-layer run bounds, preserving partial selections, transformed geometry, and exact-selection reuse for legacy anchors.
• Hide annotation paint during native source selection so additional partial annotations remain clear.
• Show comment indicators and safe, multi-paragraph read-only previews on mouse hover.
• Replace empty-comment placeholders with an explicit Add comment action in the sidebar.
• Recolor and switch selected annotations between highlight and underline from the page or floating toolbar without changing IDs/comments; preserve independent same-range records when the target style is already present.
• Keep reading-note bodies editable with quotations, comment callouts, thoughts, and stable IDs; move per-record anchor metadata to the end of the same Markdown file.
• Create a reading note without annotations, and append dated whole-material thoughts without selecting source text.
• Reuse the native sidebar and inline composer for thoughts and comments, including a reading-note context when the source is missing.
• Copy native references containing the source, quotation, and multi-paragraph comment; add a reading-note editor context-menu action.

• Validate the new format, local-update preservation, migration failures, native embeds, Mac integration, mobile emulation, and WebKit touch/input behavior. Physical iOS acceptance of this build remains pending.

• Make Reading notes toggle the native Comments sidebar without opening it automatically when an annotation is clicked.
• Use floating tools for existing annotations while Comments is hidden; select and reveal the corresponding card without a popup while it is visible.
• Let the toolbar recolor the selected annotation in sidebar mode and keep overlapping entries selectable there.
• Keep inline comment editing in the sidebar without navigating away or hiding the mobile drawer.
• Refresh Markdown/PDF README screenshots and add native integration checks for both presentation modes.

Marglow 0.2.3 — Public beta 4

Marglow’s Comments sidebar now blends with Obsidian themes, including transparent interfaces. Document names and folder paths have clearer hierarchy; separators and card borders are replaced with spacing and annotation color accents.

• Updated Markdown and PDF screenshots in both READMEs.
• Simplified installation and usage documentation.
• Recorded the maintainer-confirmed physical iOS test pass.

Install with BRAT using Wp-Zhang/obsidian-marglow, or extract marglow-0.2.3.zip and copy its three plugin files into <vault>/.obsidian/plugins/marglow/.

Verification: 74 automated tests, 28 isolated Mac integration checks, Obsidian 1.13.7 mobile emulation, and WebKit layout/touch/geometry checks passed. Release metadata and packaged assets were verified. Lint has 0 errors and 52 nonblocking warnings. Physical iOS testing was confirmed by the maintainer on October 1; this sidebar update was checked through emulation and WebKit.

Requires Obsidian 1.8.10 or later. This is a public beta and is not yet listed in Obsidian Community Plugins. Start in a test Vault and report issues with app/plugin versions and reproduction steps.

Community distribution note: this is a regular GitHub release so the community directory can detect it. The Public beta label still describes product maturity; the version, tag, and verified plugin assets are unchanged.

Phone Markdown reading now uses one coordinated navigation behavior:

• Marglow's tools sit directly below the native floating toolbar.
• Scrolling hides and restores both using Obsidian's own navigation state and matching animation timing.
• Initial tool spacing belongs to the scrolling document, so hidden navigation leaves no fixed blank area.
• The reading viewport and scroll offset stay stable while navigation changes.
• Desktop/static-navigation layouts and the PDF fixes from 0.2.1 are retained.

Verification: 74 automated tests, 28 Mac checks, native Obsidian 1.13.7 mobile emulation (actual downward/upward scroll events), and Playwright WebKit mobile layout/touch/scroll-stability checks passed. Physical iOS retesting remains pending.

Install using BRAT with prereleases enabled, or select 0.2.2 explicitly. Alternatively copy the three attached plugin files, or the contents of the ZIP's marglow folder, into your Vault's .obsidian/plugins/marglow/ directory and reload.

Fixes from iOS device feedback:

• Keep the Markdown toolbar below native floating navigation/status space.
• Use an icon and count for mobile Reading notes; keep one toolbar row with 44px touch targets.
• Compensate CSS/pinch scaling and clip PDF annotation overlays to page bounds.
• Capture PDF single-line text using engine-consistent bounding rectangles. For a unique quotation on the original PDF page, display using current text geometry rather than replaying bad widths saved on another device. Reading notes and stable IDs are not rewritten.
• Automatically handle author-trust prompts in verified isolated test Vaults, before waiting for workspace readiness.

Verification: 74 automated tests, 28 actual Mac checks, Obsidian Desktop 1.13.7 native mobile emulation, and Playwright WebKit 26.6 layout/touch/partial-selection/cross-scale checks passed. The reported PDF and reading note were copied into an isolated Vault and remained byte-identical. Native Safari launch through the available UI tool timed out and is not counted as a pass. Physical iOS retesting is still needed.

Install with BRAT (allow prereleases or choose 0.2.1) or download the ZIP and copy its three plugin files into your Vault's .obsidian/plugins/marglow/ directory. The three files are also attached individually.

Highlight, underline, and comment on Markdown and PDF without leaving your reading flow. This is the first public beta; it has not yet been accepted into Obsidian Community Plugins.

Included

• Four colors, background highlights, independent underlines, and overlapping annotations.
• In-place comments and direct editing in the native right sidebar.
• Reading notes toolbar entry opens the sidebar; bidirectional annotation/card navigation loads distant Markdown sections and PDF pages.
• Keyboard deletion, trash icons for whole annotations, and separate comment clearing that preserves highlights.
• Ordinary Markdown reading notes under _marglow/, with stable block references and guarded local updates. Source documents stay unchanged.
• English/Chinese documentation and actual UI screenshots.

Install

Download marglow-0.2.0.zip, then copy the three files inside marglow/ into <vault>/.obsidian/plugins/marglow/. Reload Obsidian and enable Marglow in Community plugins settings. You can also download main.js, manifest.json, and styles.css separately.

BRAT users: add Wp-Zhang/obsidian-marglow, allow prereleases, or explicitly select version 0.2.0. Begin in a test Vault.

Verification and limits

70 automated tests and 26 actual Mac Obsidian checks passed, including persistence and source-byte preservation. Release assets and manifest/tag metadata were validated. Official recommended Obsidian lint has no errors; nonblocking advisories and manual-review notes are documented in the community submission preparation file.

Requires Obsidian 1.8.10+. Markdown annotations appear in Reading view. PDFs need selectable text; OCR is outside this beta. PDF and virtual Markdown integration use viewer internals and may need updates with newer hosts. iOS physical-device acceptance is pending; touch controls and browser-compatible runtime are included. Sync transport and conflict handling belong to your existing sync tool.
