RPGX Loot Crate v1.1.0 — First Public Release

Party loot management, live item trading, and AI-assisted crafting for Foundry VTT.

RPGX Loot Crate gives your table a full shared inventory economy. Drop items into shared crates, negotiate live trades between characters, and run a crafting queue that integrates with long rests and lets AI generate the finished item from your materials, your currency, and your world's genre. Free to use out of the box. Pro features unlock with RPGX Proton.

Part of the RPGX Toolbelt suite. All AI features run 100% locally through Proton. No data leaves your machine.

Free Features

No account, no key, no setup beyond installing the module.

Party Loot Crates

  • Create up to 3 shared loot crates per world
  • Add and remove items from any crate
  • Drag items directly from a crate onto any actor sheet to award them
  • Assign crate ownership per character — only owners can interact
  • Rename crates inline from the crate view header
  • Add and remove owners directly from the crate view

Party Bank

  • Each crate has its own currency bank tracking all configured denominations
  • Players can deposit and withdraw currency from owned crates
  • All transactions post a public chat card to the Foundry chat log
  • GMs can set exact bank balances directly without going through a character

Live Trading

  • Initiate a real-time trade with any character in the current scene
  • Both sides see each other's offers update live
  • Free tier supports up to 3 items per side per trade
  • Either party can pull back and adjust their offer at any time before accepting

Currency Configuration

  • Fully configurable currency system — set your own labels, abbreviations, and actor data paths
  • Works with any game system, not just D&D
  • Auto-detects numeric fields on your actors and suggests them as you type
  • Defaults to standard D&D 5E denominations (pp, gp, ep, sp, cp) out of the box

General

  • Fully system agnostic — works with any Foundry game system
  • Item inspection on click — opens the full item sheet from inside a crate
  • Chat card notifications for item pickups, currency deposits, and withdrawals
  • Works on all three Foundry hosting types: local, dedicated server, and Forge

Pro Features

Pro features require RPGX Proton running on the GM's machine, with an active Patreon subscription ($3/mo after a 14-day free trial).

Unlimited Crates

  • No cap on the number of party loot crates per world

Unrestricted Trading

  • No item limit on either side of a trade
  • Include currency in your trade offer alongside items
  • Both parties must confirm before the trade executes
  • Either side can unconfirm and adjust right up until the final accept

AI-Assisted Item Crafting

  • Players submit craft requests with materials, currency, and an optional target item type
  • GMs receive a notification with all submitted details and set the number of rests required
  • Approved crafts enter a rest-based queue — progress advances automatically on long rests in dnd5e, or manually via the Rest button
  • When a craft is complete, the GM opens the award dialog and generates an item with AI
  • AI generation uses the materials, GP value, character level, game system, and campaign genre to produce an item name, description, features, and stat block
  • Genre governs all narrative and flavour output. Game system governs mechanics. Genre always wins.
  • The GM can edit the AI-generated name and description before awarding
  • Re-generate the item as many times as needed with one click
  • Create the item in the world from within the award dialog, then drag it to the award zone
  • Award posts a public chat card to the table confirming the item and recipient
  • GMs can skip AI generation entirely and create the item manually if preferred
  • Players and GMs can cancel any craft at any time — materials and currency are fully refunded on cancellation

AI Model Support

Requires RPGX Proton with Ollama installed. Supported model tiers:

Cross-Module Integration

If RPGX AI Assistant is also installed, Loot Crate reads its Proton RAG Auth Token, Game System, and Campaign Genre automatically. Users running the full RPGX Toolbelt suite only need to configure those fields once.

All real-time features (trading, craft queue, chat cards) use Foundry's built-in socket system and work across all hosting types without any additional configuration.
