Status of GTK4/libadwaita Redesign?

Hi,
I would like to ask if there is still ongoing work on redesigning Xournal++ using GTK4/libadwaita.

I’ve seen some discussions in the past about migrating to GTK4, but I’m not sure about the current status. Is this redesign still planned or actively being worked on?

It's not actively being worked on currently and still unclear, what direction we will choose.

I truly believe that the future clearly lies with GTK4 and libadwaita. With the current level of quality and maturity that Xournal++ has reached, it feels like staying on GTK3 is starting to limit its full potential.

Xournal++ is no longer just a simple note-taking tool it’s a powerful, polished application that deserves a modern foundation capable of matching its capabilities. Moving to GTK4/libadwaita wouldn’t just be a visual upgrade, but a step toward unlocking better performance, responsiveness, and a more adaptive user experience.

In a way, GTK3 now feels like a constraint and Xournal++ deserves to be released from that limitation and move forward to where the platform is heading.

Of course, I understand that such a transition is complex and must be done carefully, but I really hope this direction remains under consideration, because the potential impact would be truly significant.
