Write-back errors

When I tried this extension on my Tableau 2018.2.2, and I followed all the steps to test it. However, when I was trying to send the data to the endpoint, it give me the error " There was an error while sending the data". I have checked with Tableau community and there are couple people have the same issue. Is there anyway that I can find out what happened or fix it?

Hi - I have the same problem and I'm not able to figure out what's the reason. I would love to write an email, unfortunately by default when click on 'Get in touch for Supports' it pop ups a configuration window for a Windows' 'Mail' which is not used by my company. Could you please simply share an email here? Thanks

I am facing the same issue, and gets stuck, since I can't find the console providing any meaning full error.
Send a mail, and hope to get any further.

** UPDATE **
I was running the example locally, and then you need to modify the .trex file, to allow full access
<permissions> <permission>full data</permission> </permissions>

That made some things work, but sadly not all.
I am now facing an issue with submitting date and measures.
It creates records with %null% values instead.

Can you please provide more details so we can reproduce it. I would suggest you would follow this guide Enable Tableau Extension Debug.pdfto run the extension in debug mode and have additional details about what is happening.

Were you able to use the extension before or is this the first time?
What version of Tableau are you using?
I suppose you are trying this in a local development environment? How are you starting up the node server?

Hi, I am getting a similar error too. I followed your guideline provided here to set up the google sheet but when I hit the "send data" button in my Tableau dashboard, it says "error while sending the data". I am using a mac so could not follow the debug suggestion provided above. Any solution? I am currently using tableau desktop 2022.2

Hi, @minyoungjeong0812. Can you please let me know what setting you have on step 9 from the link that you sent?
"Who has access?" needs to be set to anyone, and that is a common cause for that error.

Yup. it is set to "anyone within my org" but still an issue.

Hi @minyoungjeong0812, that's exactly the reason then. It has to be "Anyone", not "Anyone within my org".
Write-Back Free accesses the google sheet anonymously, so when you set it to anyone within the org, it won't be recognized as someone from your org.
This is a limitation on the free version of Write-Back, where it can only write to Google Sheets and work on these specific conditions.
