bbrsync v0.5.0
bbrsync v0.5.0 keeps completed per-file progress visible.
- Keep one completed
100%row for every transferred file, including fast files. - Continue updating only the active file's row in place during transfer.
- Keep
--hide-progressbehavior unchanged for quiet scripts and logs.
Wire protocol remains v2. This release is compatible with v0.4.0 clients and daemons.
TCP and KCP traffic remain unencrypted, so use bbrsync only on a trusted local network or VPN.
This tool can overwrite or delete data. Keep backups and test on disposable folders first.
Downloads: Windows x86-64, static Linux x86-64, SHA-256 checksums, and the MIT license.
Built from 2b195ca.
bbrsync v0.4.0
bbrsync v0.4.0 integrates the progress/resume work and the new optional KCP transport.
- Add
--kcpreliable UDP transfers while keeping TCP as the default. - The daemon listens for TCP and UDP/KCP on the same address and port.
- Add bounded, adaptive Reed-Solomon FEC driven by measured retransmission loss.
- Show transfer progress by default; add
--hide-progressfor quiet scripts. - Compress missing chunks when that reduces network traffic.
- Resume interrupted files from verified partial chunks.
- Preserve existing destination permissions when replacing file contents.
- Settle KCP shutdown before process exit so the final status ACK cannot delay the next session.
- Expand transfer, confinement, deletion-safety, resume, compression, KCP, packet-loss, FEC, and shutdown coverage.
Wire protocol is now v2. Upgrade clients and daemons together; older v1 builds are not compatible with this release.
KCP requires direct UDP reachability. TCP and KCP traffic remain unencrypted, so use bbrsync only on a trusted local network or VPN.
This tool can overwrite or delete data. Keep backups and test on disposable folders first.
Downloads: Windows x86-64, static Linux x86-64, SHA-256 checksums, and the MIT license.

bbrsync v0.3.1
/root paths are now valid synchronization roots. The filesystem root and critical Unix system trees such as /etc and /usr remain protected.
- A daemon started with
--root=/rootcan read and write paths beneath/root. - Client endpoints accept resolvable DNS and Tailscale hostnames such as
vibe:7777. - Wire protocol remains v1.
This tool can overwrite or delete data. Keep backups and test on disposable folders first. Use only on a trusted local network or VPN; traffic is not encrypted.

bbrsync v0.3.0
Generated hash caches now live outside synchronized trees.
- Linux:
$XDG_CACHE_HOME/bbrsyncor~/.cache/bbrsync - macOS:
~/Library/Caches/bbrsync - Windows:
%LOCALAPPDATA%\bbrsync --cache-dirandBBRSYNC_CACHE_DIRoverride the local process cache root.- Client and daemon caches are configured independently.
- Cache files are keyed by normalized absolute synchronized roots.
- No legacy in-tree cache migration is performed.
Ignore and filtering behavior is unchanged in this release.
This tool can overwrite or delete data. Keep backups and test on disposable folders first. Use only on a trusted local network or VPN; traffic is not encrypted.
Downloads: Windows x86-64, static Linux x86-64, SHA-256 checksums, and the MIT license.

bbrsync v0.2.0
Chunk-based file synchronization for trusted local networks and VPNs.
--source is read from; --dest receives changes. Flag order does not matter. Use a local directory for one endpoint and HOST:PORT/PATH for the other.
bbrsync --source=website --dest=192.168.1.10:7777/srv/site --dry-run
bbrsync --dest=website --source=192.168.1.10:7777/srv/site --dry-runAbsolute Windows drive paths are local paths. Quote arguments containing spaces.
This tool can overwrite or delete data. Keep backups and test on disposable folders first. --delete is optional; existing destination files can be overwritten without it. Use only on a trusted local network or VPN, not the public internet. Traffic is not encrypted. serve requires an explicit --listen address.
Downloads: Windows x86-64, static Linux x86-64, SHA-256 checksums, and the MIT license. The license is also available through bbrsync --license.

bbrsync v0.1.0
Historical v0.1.0 binaries from eb586db2119f3f153e7d7534d22540da0b1746f2.
Use this build's --help for its command-line options. For new installations, use the latest release.
This tool can overwrite or delete data. Keep backups. Intended only for trusted local networks or VPNs; do not expose it to the public internet. Traffic is not encrypted.
