YakType is a voice input app that works with a host app and an iOS custom keyboard extension. This Privacy Policy explains what YakType does with data when you use the app, the keyboard extension, and any third-party speech or large language model services that you choose to configure.
If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, do not use YakType.
YakType does not provide a built-in cloud model account or a developer-operated unified processing service.
Speech recognition services, large language models, API endpoints, and access credentials used by YakType are configured and controlled by the user. When you choose to connect YakType to a third-party provider, that provider processes the data required to complete the requested speech recognition, transcription, or text processing task under its own privacy policy and terms.
YakType does not upload your voice recordings, transcripts, polished text, or ordinary keyboard input to a developer-owned server.
YakType may store certain data locally on your device so the app and keyboard extension can function, including:
- app settings and preferences
- engine, prompt, and API key configurations created by you
- local history or task records, if such features are enabled in the product
This local data is used to provide app functionality and is not collected by the developer through a central server.
YakType only processes voice input when you actively start a voice input or dictation action.
When voice input is not active, YakType is not intended to routinely collect, upload, or record your ordinary day-to-day keyboard input for transcription purposes.
If you configure and use a third-party speech recognition service, large language model, or compatible API endpoint, YakType may send relevant audio, text, and limited request metadata directly to the provider you selected so the requested feature can work.
Depending on your configuration and usage, this may include:
- audio data you actively choose to submit for speech recognition
- transcripts generated from your voice input
- text you choose to polish, rewrite, or transform
- technical request metadata required by the selected provider
YakType does not control how those third-party providers process retained data. You are responsible for reviewing the privacy policy, data handling practices, and terms of the provider you choose to use.
On iOS, certain network-based features require the keyboard extension to be granted Full Access by the user. This is necessary for features that depend on network communication or shared configuration between the host app and the keyboard extension.
Granting Full Access does not change the statements above regarding developer data collection. It enables the keyboard to use the features you choose to configure.
YakType does not sell your personal data.
YakType does not share your personal data with advertising networks.
YakType does not disclose your voice or text content to third parties except when this is technically necessary to fulfill a feature that you actively request through a third-party service that you configured.
Because YakType does not operate a developer-hosted backend for user content processing, the developer does not centrally retain your voice content, transcripts, or rewritten text.
Any local data retained on your device remains under your control unless and until you delete the app, remove the keyboard, clear app data, or delete the relevant records within the product.
Retention by third-party model or speech providers is governed by their own policies.
YakType uses platform-provided storage and app sandboxing mechanisms available on Apple platforms. However, no system can guarantee absolute security.
You are responsible for protecting:
- your device
- your Apple account
- your configured API keys and service credentials
- any third-party endpoints you choose to use
YakType is not directed to children under 13, and the developer does not knowingly collect personal data from children through a developer-operated backend.
If you choose to use third-party services, your data may be processed in countries or regions determined by those services and their infrastructure.
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. The latest version will be published at the URL provided for YakType.
