Hi @wq0729, this is definitely possible! You can use the ModeSource with a gaussian pulse profile in time. Just set the time_profile attribute to whatever you need. This works best if you compute the mode with the center frequency of the gaussian pulse. There is a fundamental limit to this approach though, because we can only use a fixed spatial profile for the gaussian source. If the spatial profile of the mode changes a lot with different frequencies, then the results of a broadband simulation will be inacurate for frequencies far away from the center frequency. There might be a way around this by using multiple sources with different mode profiles, but I have not investigated this yet. Does FDTSX support broadband simulation using the ModePlaneSource? It looks like this function only support a single wavelength. I want to have a mode pulse injectted into the waveguide and one simulation can give a broadband results. So multiple simulations with different wavelengths are not needed. Is it possible in FDTDX? Probably it's already implemented and I did not find it. Please correct me if I am wrong. Thanks! :)
