Yomitan Anki (AnkiConnect) with API Key does not work

Using API Key in yomitan and AnkiConnect does not work.
Yomitan settings page says "Connected" but the View Note, Add Expression and Add Reading buttons do not appear on any popups (including the example popup in the settings page.

Isolated this issue to the API Key support by removing API Key from both Yomitan and AnkiConnect and having things start working again.

Did the following due diligence:

• Toggled Anki integration off and on to make sure connection status is correct.
• Restarted Anki (the app itself).
• Restarted the browser (Firefox).

I have a server set up with Anki so I can read from my phone and add words without being at home. Without the API Key, I have to continue using an IP Address whitelist to protect the Anki 'server' which is very inconvenient since my phone's IP changes every time I leave home.

Looked into this a bit and Yomitan appears to be providing the correct api key in all requests which means this is a bug on ankiconnect's end. It seems likely that this is a race condition since in my testing sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't even with the exact same requests being sent.
