MCP Server

KAUT ships a zero-dependency MCP server — node <engine>/mcp.mjs, stdio JSON-RPC 2.0 — that exposes the session-facing engine verbs as seven tools, so any MCP-capable harness or orchestrator talks to KAUT without harness-specific skills. One server per machine serves every project: each tool takes an optional repo argument (absolute path of the project repo whose store to address; default is the server's cwd). The seven tools

Tool	What it does
kaut_lookup	Read knowledge: the catalog (no id), or one doc with its freshness verdict, trust tier, and altitude band
kaut_note	Record how a doc the session used actually fared: trusted | confirmed | insufficient | stale-misled
kaut_refresh	Per-doc re-derivation delta bundles: the target anchor ref, changed sources, hit sections, dead patterns
kaut_touched	Change-site sensor: which docs bind the files this session edited — the update debt before closing
kaut_write	Land an agent-tier doc update through the write gate (owner-gated layers and novel ids are refused → draft)
kaut_draft	Queue a complete doc update for asynchronous owner review (validated, anchor-checked, never served to readers)
kaut_status	Store health: per-doc verdicts, the pending draft queue, the doctor summary

Refused writes are rolled back — the store is never left dirty. The owner verbs (kaut review --approve/--reject, kaut index --approve) are deliberately not exposed over MCP: the approval gate stays off the agent surface.

Any other client: a stdio server, command node, one argument — the absolute path to mcp.mjs. The TAUT orchestration framework compiles this registration automatically when KAUT is enabled.
