Troubleshooting

Here are some common issues you may run into while using VH and how to fix them.

My Game Is Not Detecting Input

There are many reasons why this could be happening:

  • Your game isn't the foreground window.

Make sure your game's title shows up above the handheld screen. If not, you may need to click the game's window on your desktop.

  • Your VR dashboard is open.

Press the "system" button on your VR controller to toggle the dashboard.

  • You didn't connect the virtual gamepad before starting your game.

Some games (especially older games) don't support controller hot-plugging, so the virtual gamepad must be connected before starting the game.

  • You have a another game controller that your game is trying to use instead of your virtual gamepad.

Please make sure you have no other game controllers connected to your PC besides your VR controllers, then restart your game.

  • You didn't set your input bindings correctly.

Please see VH Settings > Bindings to make sure you're using the right bindings for your game.

  • You selected gamepad bindings, but you didn't install the ViGEm Bus Driver.

Please see the First Startup Guide for how to install it.

  • Your game or emulator's inputs are not set up correctly.

Make sure your game or emulator's inputs are configured to work with your VH bindings.

  • Your Steam Input settings may be causing an issue.

Try enabling or disabling Steam Input to see if it fixes the issue.

  • Your game might not be compatible with virtual or simulated inputs.

Game with anti-cheat or anti-tamper DRM are not recommended for VH.

I’m Still Having Issues!
