CPU and mem. usage goes to the sky on 15-20+ Bash files open simulataneously in Zed #15

Description

@larssb

So I installed the bash extension into my Zed IDE running at version v0.189.0+.

Then as I code some yummy Bash I experience the CPU fan really having a windy day + then suddenly being logged out of my account on Ubuntu v24.04.2 LTS Noble.

I login again and then the same cycle happens a couple of times more. Then take a look at the Activity Monitor on Ubuntu and see that a huge bunch of processes related to this Bash extension are active and consuming quite a high percentage of the CPU core they're committed to. Further, some of them use 1GB+ of MEM.

What I would like

  • this extension to not bring my Ubuntu to its knees causing it to tap out and log my out
  • that the extension uses less resources as I think that would help avoid the above

If there's anything I can do to help this issue coma along to be resolved let me know.

Looking forward to hear from you and thank you very much.
