Access Agent Thread Summaries Directly in Zed

I would like to get the summarized thread.

Why does this matter?

I want to move the thread to Claude code as I think Zed Agents can't do what I want

Possible approach

When referencing an agent conversation thread using the internal link format:

zed:///agent/thread/{thread-id}?name={Thread+Name}

The link does not work — clicking it doesn't open the referenced thread.

Current Behavior (it seems like)

• Agent threads are stored in an LMDB database at ~/Library/Application Support/Zed/threads/
• The data is in binary format (threads-db.0.mdb, threads.db) and not human-readable
• There's no apparent way to browse or access past agent conversation threads from the UI
• Internal zed:/// links to threads are non-functional

Expected Behavior

1. Clickable thread links — zed:///agent/thread/... links should open the referenced conversation thread directly in the editor
2. Thread browser/history panel — A way to browse, search, and access past agent conversation threads from within Zed
3. Export capability — Option to export thread content as markdown or plain text for reference

I had this issue, but using the external Claude agent. For that case...

TL;DR: For the "external" Claude Agent running in Zed, check ~/.claude/projects/${workspace_path_dashized} for thread contents in *.jsonl files.

I figured out that @anthropic-ai/claude-agent-sdk, used by claude-agent-acp, stores its conversation histories on disk on Mac in ~/.claude/projects/<PROJECT_PATH_NORMALIZED>, where normalization appears to be "replace /[^a-zA-Z0-9]/ with '-'".

E.g. for threads I initiated in /Users/my_username/code/personal/my-project, I found raw data for the threads at /Users/$USER/.claude/projects/-Users-my-username-code-personal-my-project/*.jsonl.

But also I just noticed the original post mentions wanting to migrate to Claude Code, not that they're using Claude...

For the native Zed agent threads, ~/Library/Application Support/Zed/threads/threads.db appears to be a simple sqlite database. You should be able to use any sqlite tool to export select * from threads from that file.
