A setting to control automatic opening of the Threads Sidebar has shipped in Zed Stable v1.22.0! Set Thanks to @jackhwalters and @joshkent94 for the implementation! |

Problem
When a project is opened into an existing window (
default_open_behavior/cli_default_open_behaviorset to"existing_window"), Zed always opens the threads sidebar. There's no way to add a workspace to the current window and leave the sidebar closed, so I have to presscmd-alt-jevery time to hide it again. The sidebar is opened unconditionally in
crates/workspace/src/workspace.rs(in theadd_dirs_to_sidebarbranch,multi_workspace.open_sidebar(cx)). This happens on v1.19.2 and onmain.Proposal
Add a setting that controls whether the sidebar opens automatically when a workspace is added to an existing window, for example:
Keep the current behavior (
true) as the default. When it'sfalse, the new workspace should still be added to the window, and the sidebar should stay in whatever state the user last left it.Environment
Zed 1.19.2, macOS
