Instantly Hangs Cinnamon on boot on Mint 21.3 #20131

Describe the bug / provide steps to reproduce it
Downloaded zed build 0.159.7 x86 for Linux dated 1 November 2024 and executed on Linux Mint 21.3. On first starting zed it completely hung the Cinnamon desktop environment in such a way as it became unresponsive and nothing could be clicked. The only way I could recover was by rebooting the machine. This problem is repeatable and it hangs the system every time.
A zed window does appear just prior to the hang.
The log reports "GPU has crashed, and no debug information is available."
I have tested the GPU is functioning correctly by running the GPU benchmark app glmark2, and all tests pass.
The only other app open at the time of the zed crash was Firefox.

Linux Mint 21.3
GPU = nVidia GTX 1080
GPU driver = nVidia 535.183.01
