Account backup, faster Tor, and smoother chats.

Account backup and transfer

• Back up your whole account to an encrypted file, protected by a passphrase, and restore it on another phone.
• Or move your account directly from one phone to the other over Tor: the old phone shows a code, the new phone scans it, and both confirm the safety numbers before anything is sent.
• You choose whether to include the Vault. Your backup is only as strong as the passphrase, so pick a good one and delete the file once you have moved.

Tor connectivity

• Faster, more reliable connection where a bridge is needed, including heavily censored networks. If a direct connection stalls, the app now falls back to bridges automatically, even when the region cannot be detected.
• You can paste your own bridges under Settings → Network.
• Updated the bundled Tor to 0.4.9.9.
• Creating a profile now works on devices with strict keystores.

Chats

• Messages are delivered noticeably faster.
• Group chats: send with Enter, the message list no longer flickers, and you can tap a member's name to check their key fingerprint.
• Channel post and comment times now display correctly.

Settings

• App lock can be set to keep the app unlocked in the background for up to 24 hours.
• The settings and About screens have a cleaner, more consistent look.

Build and security

• A full code and security review for this release: no logging, no plaintext left in temporary files, and the backup cryptography, screenshot protection, and Tor changes were all verified.
• Reproducible build from the tagged commit.
