0.2.2 — followers, cult stats, controller and combat
The first published build since 0.1.1, and it carries three feature passes that never got releases of their own: the controller layer, a combat awareness pass, and followers and cult stats.
If you are coming from 0.1.1, this is a big one. Unpack and run the installer over the top of what you have.
Your cult, and your followers — two new keys
- F3 reads the four bars the game draws across the top of the screen and never puts a single word of text on: faith, food, cleanliness and warmth, then how many followers you have and how many have died. They all read the same way round, so a big number is always good. Bars you have not unlocked yet are left out rather than read as zero. When one drops into "oh no bad" territory, notifications start firing about the consequences — dissent, starving followers, puking in the streets.
- F4 describes one follower in full: loyalty, food and health, what is wrong with them, what they are doing right now, their traits, who they are married to, their age. It describes whoever is focused in the pathfinder, and falls back to the nearest follower.
- Every follower tile now reads its bars — the roster, choosing a sacrifice, daycare, the mating tent, beds, the healing bay, knucklebones, the confession booth. And when you cannot pick a follower for something, you now get told why.
- Followers in the pathfinder carry their shape, level and whatever prominent thing is happening to them, so you can decide whether to do something about it. The speech bubble that pops over their head now reads, and so does a follower who walks across the base to find you.
- The Cult page behind the Temple altar and the followers button in the menu both read their statistics now.
- The Read Mind screen gives you what each thought row is actually doing, faith-wise.
Controller
Hold the left trigger and the pad becomes the mod's hotkeys — it is the only button the game leaves free, so everything is a chord with it held. D-pad works the pathfinder, A starts and stops guidance, B lists enemies, X points the beacon, Y is where-am-I, left stick click is autowalk, Back is help, Start is the settings menu. All of it is rebindable in the config file.
Combat
- Melee warnings for the forest flying worm and the diving maggot miniboss.
- Spawners say they are spawners and move to the top of the enemy list.
- Chains breaking on a dungeon door, and newly revealed locations on the map, are announced when they happen.
- Multi-stage boss fights stop claiming the room is clear between waves.
- Health loss reporting is spaced out so it talks over the combat cues less.
Other
- Autowalk on Delete walks you to the focused pathfinder target. Handy in narrow passages, where eight compass directions are not quite enough.
- Items that beep at you on the ground now also show up in the pathfinder as something to walk to.
- The pathfinder and the wall bumper were not talking to each other and would occasionally walk you confidently into a wall. Much improved.
Install
Download CultAccess-tester-0.2.2.zip, unpack it anywhere, and run Install CultAccess.cmd. The NVDA bridge library is included; BepInEx is downloaded for you. INSTALL.txt covers the antivirus case, and TESTING.txt lists what still needs confirming — reports on those are the most useful thing you can send back.
GOG should work as well, but is not auto-detected yet: use the Browse button to point the installer at the game folder.
Full engineering detail is in CHANGELOG.md. The short version is changelog_for_hoomans.md.
0.1.1 — installer hotfix
A hotfix for people whose antivirus blocks the BepInEx download. If 0.1.0 installed fine for you, there is nothing new here — the mod itself is unchanged.
What changed
Some antivirus products flag the BepInEx download. Nothing is wrong with the file: a mod loader patches a game, which is the same shape as something unwanted doing it.
The installer now has a second button, "Use a BepInEx zip I downloaded myself". It:
- looks up the current download link and copies it to your clipboard, prints it into the progress box, and opens it in your browser
- waits while you fetch the zip however suits you — allow it in your antivirus, or use a different browser
- lets you pick the file you saved, then finishes the whole install
The link is looked up fresh each time rather than written into the installer, so it cannot go stale or point at the wrong build.
Install
Download CultAccess-tester-0.1.1.zip, unpack it anywhere, and run Install CultAccess.cmd. The NVDA bridge library is included. INSTALL.txt covers the antivirus case in more detail.
0.1.0 — first test build
A screen reader accessibility mod for Cult of the Lamb (Steam, 1.5.25.1049).
This is a test build. A lot of it works; some of it has never been confirmed by anyone but the author. TESTING.txt inside the download says which parts, and what is most useful to send back.
Install
Download CultAccess-tester-0.1.0.zip, unpack it anywhere, and run Install CultAccess.cmd.
The NVDA bridge library is included, so there is nothing extra to hunt for. BepInEx is not included — it is a separate mod loader with its own licence and distribution, and the installer will fetch it or use a copy you already have. INSTALL.txt covers the details.
What it does
- Speech through NVDA, falling back to Tolk and then SAPI, so it is never silent.
- Menu readers for the game's icon-only screens: build catalogue, rituals, doctrines, tarot, inventory, quests, the adventure map, the world map, follower indoctrination, and the Crown upgrades.
- Spatial audio cues for incoming attacks, walls and doorways, and a navigation beacon with turn-by-turn walking directions.
- Status on demand: health, fervour, tarot, day and time, and the current objective.
- Fifteen language catalogues. The fourteen non-English ones are machine drafts and are marked as such.
Known rough edges
- Controller is not supported. Keyboard only.
- Some announcements are still English regardless of game language; the translation migration is partial.
- Auto Cook and the Tailor minigame have never been tested by anyone.
Reports are welcome and genuinely useful — "it said nothing when I did X" is a valid bug report, and silence is the hardest kind of fault to find without you.
