TURN YOUR THESIS INTO A PAID SCHOLARSHIP WITH COALA!

Hey, if you are about to write your thesis about a source code analytics related topic of any sort, please consider using our coala framework for the boring parts:

  • user interaction
  • GUI and CLI output
  • parallelization
  • testing framework

coala is a free and open code analysis application and framework. It is our free time project which we are determinded to turn into production level software.

Some of us have already used coala for scientific work, but we are eager for your experiences and usability feedback.

In turn we offer you usability and software support up to the point that we can implement missing features for you! We can also help you to turn your thesis into a paid scholarship project, supported by Google through their Google summer of Code programme.

Why Should You Consider Writing Your Thesis Using coala?

coala is made for creating static code analysis. If you want to do research on static code analysis, you've found the right place.

  • Concentrate on bare logic of your algorithm. coala takes care of user interaction, parallelization and much more.
  • Rapid prototyping made easy.
  • Export results to whateveryoulike for mass data analysis or inspect them in detail via our GUI or CLI.
  • Get a full fledged production usable application in the end without hassle.
  • We'll help you getting your tests set up!
  • We'll implement needed coala features as you need them!
  • No idea yet? Join the coAST team and help us create language independent abstractions! Let's change the shape of code analytics.
  • Get a stipend for your thesis while having extra support through a coala mentor: we participate in the Google Summer of Code.

Why Are We Doing This?

We want coala do be awesome for scientific work. Some of us already did or/and will do scientific work with coala. By writing your thesis using coala together with us helping you, you provide good usability reports to us (implicitly) and promote coala in the scientific world through publishing your thesis. There are no loosers here, this is how open source works.

Is There A Catch?

There's no catch. We provide everything for free. If you want our help, you must publish your implementation under a GPL compatible license. If you don't want to do that, you can still profit from most advantages listed above.

The Google Summer of Code stipend is sponsored by Google. See http://www.google-melange.com/ for more information.
