Camoufox is being deprecated on July 8

Camoufox is an incredible project, but it will be removed from Donut on July 8. If you want to prevent that, you will need to disable automatic updates in the settings.

Camoufox was initially added to Donut as the primary anti-detect option. In late 2025, as it was unclear if the project will receive anymore updates, so I began to work on Wayfern as an up-to-date replacement for it with a different architectural decisions. Right when I was ready to release the first version of Wayfern, Camoufox announced that it will be developed by a new organization, and I made a decision to support both of them.

However, I'm regularly getting reports and complaints about different issues with some people getting upset and assuming that this is a Donut-related bug. This takes a lot of my time and energy. To ensure that the project will continue to grow and stays safe to use, I decided to deprecate Camoufox.

Hi Ihor. At no point have I hidden that I'm the developer of Wayfern, Donut doesn't have any AI features, and anyone can create unlimited profiles, all with their own unique fingerprint, without a subscription.

Hi there and thank you for the kind words! If I understood your message correctly:

• There are no plans to open-source Wayfern. If I do open source it, it will be the whole source code as having a setup similar to Camoufox where there are public and private patches would be a nightmare
• Wayfern will continue to receive updates and improving it is my primary focus
• To migrate to Wayfern from Camoufox, the safest approach is to manually create a new profile and login to every account individually. If the services you are using are not checking your fingerprint, you can copy cookies for all of them

Hi there and sorry for taking so long to get back! I think this is a great feature. Starting with 149.0.7827.115, you can now set colors to a profile. The name of the profile is displayed next to the search bar.
