TLS 1.2 Information

IMPORTANT

Starting from April 17, 2019, the ArcGIS Platform (including ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Enterprise 10.7) will require use of TLS 1.2. Please visit https://support.esri.com/en/technical-article/000019305 for more information.

Some of the Geoportal Server functionalities that interact with ArcGIS services will be affected, such as federated search to ArcGIS.com or Portal for ArcGIS 10.7, preview of ArcGIS server services, and registering and harvesting of ArcGIS server services.

One of the following situations will apply to your users who have Geoportal Server running:

  • If your Geoportal Server is deployed under Java application server (such as Tomcat 8.x) that supports TLS 1.2, it will continue to work and there is no configuration change needed.
  • If your Geoportal Server is deployed under Tomcat 7.x you have to configure TLS 1.2 support. Please see for example https://stackoverflow.com/questions/9749339/does-tomcat-support-tls-v1-2 or the Apache Tomcat documentation on how to do this.
  • Otherwise you will need to upgrade to an application server that provides TLS 1.2 support. We suggest Tomcat 8.x for this.
